Heavy Metals

Emission data

Emission scenario used in calculations of lead, cadmium and mercury transport and deposition for 2005 is mainly based on data officially submitted to the UNECE Secretariat. The total anthropogenic emissions of HMs and their spatial distributions with resolution 50x50 km are given below:

Heavy metals Total emissions, t/y Maps
 Lead 7.9 map
 Cadmium 0.6 map
 Mercury 0.4 map

National emission totals on lead, cadmium and mercury for 2005 were used in calculations.

Depositions and transboundary fluxes

On the basis of emission and meteorological data for 2005 transboundary depositions were calculated. Maps of lead, cadmium and mercury deposition fluxes from national sources (Maps of deposition fluxes from), maps of contribution of external antropogenic sources to deposition to the country (Maps of contributions) and maps of total deposition fluxes to the country (Maps of deposition fluxes to) are presented in the table. Besides pie charts illustrating the deposition budget for principal regions-receptors (Depositions from) and contributions of main sources to deposition to the country (Depositions to) are given.

Comparison of the modelling results with measurements

In order to verify the obtained concentrations in air and precipitation, the modelling results were compared with measurement data. Measurement data were collected at monitoring sites of EMEP network and prepared by Chemical Coordinating Centre of EMEP (CCC). The comparison data are presented below. Along with the mean annual values the links to diagrams with the comparison of measured and calculated monthly mean concentrations of heavy metals are also presented.

Persistent Organic Pollutants

Emission data

For PCDD/Fs, B[a]P, B[b]F, B[k]F and I_P official emission data submitted to the UN ECE Secretariat were used. Total emissions of the country as well as links to the maps of spatial distribution of emissions for 2005 (PCDD/Fs, B[a]P, B[b]F, B[k]F, I_P used for modelling are presented.'"

Mean annual concentrations in main environmental compartments

Calculated concentrations in various media including atmosphere (means over the country, minimum and maximum values in the country) as well as links to the corresponding maps of spatial distributions are presented in the table. For PAHs one-year calculation were performed.
