Last update:

EMEP Status reports on HMs and POPs and MSC-E Technical report, prepared in accordance with the EMEP work plan for 2010 are available in the section Publications. All reports will be presented at the 34th session of the Steering Body to EMEP (September, Geneva).

EMEP case study on HMs

Case study on heavy metal pollution assessment was initiated by MSC-E and TFMM in 2009 and welcomed and supported by the Steering Body to EMEP [ECE/EB.AIR/GE.1.2009/2].

The main goal of the study is a complex analysis of factors affecting quality of the assessment of heavy metal pollution levels in a country using variety of available information (detailed emissions with finer resolution (5 x 5 km, 10 x 10 km), monitoring and modelling results). Priority metals targeted by the study are cadmium, lead, and mercury.

Progress and work-plan elements of the EMEP test-case study were discussed at the annual EMEP/TFMM meeting in Larnaca in May 2010. Six countries, expressed their willingness to take part in the study, informed TFMM participants about available emission data, measurements, country-specific geophysical information, meteorological data,…. in their countries.
